Shop secure

You do not have to worry about the safety of your credit card information when shopping at Computeractive Direct - you can rest assured that your online shopping experience will be a secure one. Computeractive Direct uses DataCash, a leading supplier in secure online transactions, for processing your payments.

High-level Security with DataCash

DataCash has a number of security features which address the concerns of Electronic Commerce via the Internet and which combine to make it many times more secure than the traditional uses of your credit card, such as telephone or mail order.

Encrypted transactions

Communication between the user and DataCash is encrypted using the SSL mechanism built into your browser. This ensures that even if someone were able to monitor the traffic between you and the DataCash server, they would not be able to read it. Encryption is used on all pages within the DataCash system.

Protecting your data

The DataCash server sits behind our corporate firewall. Access to this machine is strictly controlled, further preventing unauthorised access to your personal data. Once we get your Credit Card details from you, they are stored on the DataCash server in an encrypted format. For the technically minded, we use the Blowfish Encryption Algorithm for this.

Once we receive your credit card details we carry out an on-line check of your Credit Card with our Acquiring bankers. This ensures the number you entered actually corresponds to a real credit card number and is not one that has been made up. The system also checks various "Hot Card lists" to ensure that no fraudulent use is being made of a Credit Card. This on-line verification of your details is carried out over a secure line to the bank. Credit Card data is, at no time, sent over the Internet during the validation process.

Real-time transaction confirmation

All Credit Card transactions are completed in real-time. After you have confirmed your purchase, we make an immediate connection to the appropriate acquiring bank to verify the card and amount, so that authorisation is given before we complete the order.

If you have a question about the security of the site, email enquiries@computeractive-direct.co.uk

You are protected by the normal laws of England, in particular The Sale and Supply of Goods Act 1994 (c. 35) and the Consumer Protection Act 1987 (c.43) and the Distant Selling Regulations 2000 (DSR)

If you still do not feel comfortable sending your credit card information over the Internet, and prefer to place the order by phone with an Customer Services Representative, simply call 01858 438883.
